The Tennessee Chiropractic Association has elected Andrew Dixon, a Bellevue doctor, as the association’s new president. Dixon, originally from West Virginia, moved to Nashville in 1986 and has spent 27 years practicing in the area. “I grew up with Bellevue,” Dixon said. “When I opened my practice, Old Hickory Boulevard was just a two-lane road, and Bellevue was considered way out of town.” He said much of that has changed as the community has grown. “I’ve been involved with the Tennessee Chiropractic Association for the last 15 years in various positions,” he said. Dixon said his responsibilities to raising his children and to his family came first. Now that his children are adults, he said, he has the freedom to devote more time to the TCA. Dixon attributed his chiropractic involvement to a sports injury when he was younger. “I was heavily involved in sports growing up, from football to wrestling, and even competing some in college,” he said. “I subsequently had some issues with my back and other joints. After being referred to other doctors, I was finally sent to a doctor of chiropractic, and it really gave me an insight into something that I felt I might be good at and want to be a part of.” He said being elected as president of TCA was one of those “wow” moments in life. He started his two-year term at the beginning of this year. “I feel no better time to be involved than now because of all the changes in health care,” Dixon said. “People are concerned about what’s going on in health care,” he said, “but there are opportunities out there.”
